Eleme Medical Releases First Device, Aimed At Cellulite
Merrimack, NH (VentureWire Lifescience) - (Feb 1, 2008) – Aesthetic device company Eleme Medical Inc. - formerly known as SmoothShapes Inc. - said it is launching its first device, an anti-cellulite system, this month.
Eleme said it will officially launch the product at an industry conference, the American Academy of Dermatology, at the beginning of February. The device received Food and Drug Administration clearance in July 2006, and the company has been conducting clinical trials for marketing in the interim.
Based in Merrimack, N.H., Eleme incorporated in 1996 and began its business in 2000. The SmoothShape device uses lasers and light-emitting diodes along with rollers to liquefy and elimiate fat cells, smoothing out the skin in the process.
Eleme raised $4 million in Series A angel financing early in its operations, and a $15 million Series B round from Three Arch Partners and angels in March 2007.
